Orangeburg Attorney Bill Connor is first and foremost a Christian, he is also a devoted family man and has now been married to his lovely wife Susan for over 29 years, and together they have three beautiful children Peyton, Brenna, and Will. Connor and his family live in Orangeburg SC. He is owner and lawyer for Bill Connor Law Firm, LLC who also is a former Chairman of the Board of Orangeburg Christian Academy. He is the former President of Rotary for Orangeburg. Bill was the former chairman of the republican party for the sixth congressional district. Bill Connor joined the Army in 1990 and served over a decade as a Regular Army Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army. After leaving active duty to become a reservist, Bill earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina. Bill Connor is a man of high ethical standards and believes in giving his clients the absolute best service he can provide. As an attorney, Bill has earned an "AV Preeminent" rating, the highest peer evaluation rating of ethics, and ability for an attorney practicing law in the United States. In 2007, Bill volunteered for a year-long combat deployment in Afghanistan, serving as a Joint Operations Officer, developing and implementing the U.S. advisory effort for Afghan National Security Forces. Bill later commanded the U.S. Advisory effort in the volatile Helmand Province, and subsequently earned a promotion to Lt. Colonel. Bill also served as the senior American military liaison to British forces in Helmand, Afghanistan where he served with Prince Harry. For his efforts in Afghanistan, Bill was awarded the Bronze Star and was put in charge of Command and General Staff Officer instruction (ILE) in South Carolina for the Reserves. In 2015, Bill was promoted Colonel and South Carolina's Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer under US Army North. In 2015 Bill was promoted to the rank of colonel. Bill was activated for COVID-19 response from march 2020 - July 2020 Bill was elected to serve on the "Citadel Board of Visitors" on October 5th 2020 and was sworn in July of 2021
Bill is a Distinguished Graduate from the US Army War College class of 2018 with an MSS degree. Connor is a graduate of The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina and also received a law degree from the University of South Carolina in 2005. Bill ran for Lt. Governor of South Carolina in 2010 and beat out many high profile opponents (including a former state senator and a former SC Insurance Commissioner) to make the runoff. He was later elected Chairman of the 6th Congressional District (SC) GOP. Bill was appointed to the South Carolina Floodwater Commission by Governor McMaster and elected Chairman of the National Security Task Force in January 2019.
Bill was presented with the Order of the Palmetto, "South Carolina's highest award" in July of 2020, by Governor Henry McMaster.
